About me
Welcome!
My name is Fabiana Avais [fabi-ʌ:nʌ ʌ-vʌ:ɪs]. I currently research Semantics, pursuing a Master’s in Linguistics, at the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil. My expected completion date for the Master’s is March 2025. Please check my research page for more information about my work!
Some curiosities about me:
- According to MBTI, my personality type is INFJ-T(Advocate).
- I support animal rights, which is a significant cause for me. I am opposed to speciesism, and I have been a vegetarian for more than ten years now. My cats are named Marie and Sophie, and I love them unconditionally.
- I am an enthusiast of the Arts, and I love to practice too. I could talk about Art all day, especially watercolors and classical ballet!
- I enjoy a variety of hobbies such as reading, cooking, playing chess, sewing, dancing ballet, and painting, whether with watercolors or on canvas.
My ballet practice:
I am a beginner Classical Ballet dancer towards my 3rd year of practice. This means that I will get on pointe soon! Did you know that ballet is the most academic dance of all? There is a strict methodology, tradition is everywhere, and there is an attempt for perfection in the execution of movement, that must be technically correct, with posture and discipline. I enjoy training and disciplining myself to improve every day in ballet and other areas of my life (studies, language practice, and so on). I believe that improvement comes with time, dedication, and consistency.
This year, I participated in my first ballet recital: Peter Pan! I learned so many important things that can be transferred to other places in my life, such as managing stress, respecting my own time and limits, focusing on my practice, being inspired by my peers, and being positive. I think ballet has taught me a lot about my limitations and how I can get better at overcoming them. It also fulfills my dreams, taking me to a happy place, whether dancing or watching!
